Rules for Evaluating Chinese Health Qigong Technical Degrees Abroad (Trial Implementation)

1.  These Rules have been drawn up for the purpose of carrying forward the excellent legacy of Chinese culture, to meet the demands of Qigong enthusiasts of countries all over the world and to promote international exchanges in Health Qigong.
2.  Practitioners abroad may apply for a Duan ranking in the Chinese Health Qigong Technical Degrees Abroad.
3.  The procedures for applying for such a Duan ranking are supervised by the Chinese Health Qigong Association.
4.  Practitioners applying for a Duan ranking are required to have a strong sense of affinity for Health Qigong, with a record of civil and scientific practice and physical training, and good moral character for the promotion of merits and virtues.
5.  The Health Qigong Technical Degrees Abroad are arranged in three categories and nine Duan rankings.
Primary Duan rankings: One, Two and Three;
Middle Duan rankings: Four, Five and Six;
Senior Duan rankings: Seven, Eight and Nine.
6.  Each person applying for a Duan ranking is required to participate in a professional training and examination organized by the Chinese Health Qigong Association or an authorized organization.
7.  Examination for Duan ranking consists of both theory and the Health Qigong techniques.
A.  The written examinations on the theory of Health Qigong for different Duan rankings shall assign a maximum of 100 marks.
B.  On-the-spot examinations, classified as A,B,C,D and E levels on the Health Qigong techniques shall be conducted by experts appointed by the Chinese Health Qigong Association.
Level A:
Movements correct and standard; coordinated posture; smooth rhythm; breathing, mind and expression featuring the characteristics of the movements and the key points of practice.
Level B:
Movements fairly correct; ability to coordinate breathing and concentration, and basic mastery of the key points of the techniques.
Level C:
Movements basically correct and ability to complete a whole set of movements coherently.
Level D:
Ability to complete a whole set of movements.
Level E:
Difficulty completing a whole set of movements.
8.  A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan ranking must meet the following requirements:
A.  A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking One (I) shall take part in the First Training Set of the Health Qigong Movements and shall reach Level D in the examination on the techniques.
B.  A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Two (II) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking One (I) at least one year previously.
b. Have reached Level C in an examination on the techniques of the former First Set and Level D of the new Second Set of Health Qigong Movements.
C. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Three (III) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Two (II) at least one year previously.
b. Have reached Level B in an examination on the techniques of the former First Set, and Level C and Level D corresponding respectively to the former Second and the new Third Set of Health Qigong Movements.
D. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Four (IV) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Three (III) at least one year previously.
b. Have scored more than 60 marks in the examination on theory at Duan Ranking Four (IV).
c. Have reached Level A in an examination on the techniques of the former First Set and Level B, Level C and Level D
corresponding respectively to the former Second, Third and the new Fourth Set of the Health Level Qigong Movements.
E. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Five (V) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Four (IV) at least two years previously.
b. Have scored more than 60 marks in the examination on theory at Duan Ranking Five (V).
c. Have reached Level A in an examination on the techniques of the former Second Set, and Level B and Level C corresponding respectively to the former Third and the Fourth Set of Health Qigong Movements.
F. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Six (VI) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Five (V) at least two years previously.
b. Have scored more than 60 marks in the examination on theory at Duan Ranking Six (VI).
c. Have reached Level A in an examination on the techniques
of the former Third Set, and Level B corresponding to the Fourth Set of the Health Qigong Movements.
d. Have made some accomplishments in the academic field of Health Qigong.
e. Have made contributions to promoting and popularizing Health Qigong.
G. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Seven (VII) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Six (VI) at least three years previously.
b. Have scored more than 60 marks in the examination on theory at Duan Ranking Seven (VII).
c. Have reached Level A in an examination on the techniques of the former Fourth Set of Health Qigong Movements.
d. Have made remarkable achievements in the Health Qigong academic fields.
e. Have made outstanding contributions to promoting and popularizing Health Qigong.
H. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan
Ranking Eight (VIII) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Seven (VII) at least five years previously.
b. Have made remarkable achievements in the study of Chinese traditional health-care culture or in the Health Qigong academic field.
c. Have made significant contributions to promoting international exchanges in Health Qigong.
I. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan Ranking Nine (IX) must meet the following requirements:
a. Have obtained a diploma of Health Qigong Duan Ranking Eight (VIII) at least seven years previously.
b. Enjoy high international prestige and have gained remarkable achievements among Health Qigong circles.
9. A person applying for a Health Qigong Duan ranking is requested to submit to the Chinese Health Qigong Association:
a. An application form for a Duan ranking of Health Qigong;
b. A current bareheaded, full-faced passport photo;
c. A diploma of the previous Health Qigong Duan ranking (if any);
d. Material concerning academic and scientific research findings and/or contributions to the popularization of Health Qigong as required by the corresponding Duan ranking;
e. A letter of recommendation;
f. Payment of application and examination fee.
10. The Chinese Health Qigong Association shall approve and confer the corresponding Duan ranking on the person passing the Health Qigong theory and techniques examinations, and merits and virtues appraisal by the Examination and Approval Committee.
11. The official application forms, Duan ranking diplomas and badges of Health Qigong shall be designed and printed by the Chinese Health Qigong Association.
12. A person who makes remarkable contributions to the development of Health Qigong in his/her country or region may be
promoted to a higher Duan ranking by waiving the related requirements after examination and approval by the Chinese Health
Qigong Association.
13. Any person in the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao and those in Taiwan Province as well as overseas Chinese may follow the above procedures to apply for a Duan ranking.
14. The Chinese Health Qigong Association reserves the right to interpret these Rules.
15. The above Rules go into effect from the date of promulgation.
