
On September 9 -10, 2011, the Second Chinese Health Qigong Expo was held in Haozhou City, Anhui Province, sponsored by GASC Health Qigong Administration Center, Anhui Provincial Bureau of Sports, and Haozhou Municipal Bureau of Sports, and organized by the Haozhou Municipal Office of Medicine Expos. Haozhou is the hometown of Hua Tuo, a famous ancient Chinese physician. Presented at the opening ceremony are: Xiao Min, Assistant Director of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC); Director Ji Yunxi and Vice Director Huang Linhai from GASC Health Qigong Administration Center; Fang Chunming, Secretary of CPC Haozhou Municipal Committee, and Shen Qiang, Mayor of Haozhou City. The opening ceremony was hosted by Gao Weiling, Vice Director of Anhui Provincial Bureau of Sports; Vice Director Huang Linhai and Mayor Shen Qiang made opening remarks at the ceremony; and Assistant Director Xiao Min, Director Ji Yunxi and Secretary Fang Chunming jointly launched the opening ball.
The Expo is another national comprehensive Health Qigong exposition since 2009. Apart from opening ceremony, the organizer also arranged exchange contest, paper reporting meetings, teaching and consulting as well as products exhibition. During the Expo, 134 athletes from 23 teams participated in Health Qigong exchange contest; 12 papers were chosen to be reported at paper reporting meetings, among which 5 wining the first prize, 3 winning the second prize, and 4 winning the third prize. The organizer also organized 4 Health Qigong on-site teaching and consulting activities. Moreover, 14 producers and factories of Health Qigong-related products participated in the sales exhibition, and their products include audio-visual products, publications, clothes and equipments, etc.
According to the principal of the Expo organizing committee, this Expo has three distinctive features compared with the first one: First, wide-range participation in contest. 22 provincial, regional and municipal teams participated in the Health Qigong exchange contest, adding 9 teams compared with the last Expo. Second, high quality papers. The papers selected were written by specially invited experts and scholars from high schools of traditional Chinese medicine, sports and comprehensive disciplines and the competent authority of Health Qigong, with contents involving fundamental theories and applied studies of Health Qigong. Third, diversified products for sales exhibition. Apart from audio-visual products and books on Health Qigong, there were also clothes, hats and shoes, etc.
The success of this Expo plays a positive role in further promoting and popularizing Health Qigong exercises, spreading Health Qigong health-preservation culture as well as advancing scientific and standardized development of Health Qigong. (Report/Photo by Xing Shu)
